Below are examples of events I’ve coordinated at Emory—I designed the posters, too! I’m particularly proud of the Science Commons Kick Off which included a chemistry-appropriate ribbon explosion (instead of a ribbon cutting) to celebrate the opening of a new chemistry building in Fall 2015. I’m quoted in this article covering the event.

I love working with students on their writing. Here are some comments from students I’ve worked with about their experience:

Kira’s comments are astoundingly thorough and the one-on-one meetings were helpful to get feedback.

Student Evaluation for “Interdisciplinary Problems: Psychoanalysis and Creating Writing” (Spring 2011)

Her writing assignments definitely were the driving force of the class. They required us to think critically while also opening us up to new thoughts and experiences. She is a great instructor and by far one of the best instructors I have had at Emory.

Kira Walsh helped me to express my original ideas in a successful college essay. She used a non-judgmental approach, which made me feel comfortable and unafraid of telling her my ideas. She always used positive encouragement, and made me feel like I was in control of my essay. Kira never changed the idea of the story, but just made it stronger. I am not the strongest writer, but after the essay help I received from Kira I felt confident that I had a great essay. I am so thankful that Kira helped me achieve my goal of getting into college.

“She’s basically my favorite person.”
